Moon cycle rituals are as old as time itself. The rituals are ancient and held individually or with a collective. Many cultures throughout the world hold variations but in the end they have many similarities. Sometimes there is a fire. Sometimes there is music and dance. Sometimes it's just a cyclical time once a month for a person to meditate on where they are at in their life, goals and aspirations. There are many websites with different ideas on what to do and I like this one as it's short and there's a listing of the different moons throughout the year.
May is the Hare moon - reaffirm goals time!
From my experience over the past few years of holding personal ceremonies on my own or with friends I've found the process grounding, enlightening and quite powerful. It is a great way to check in with myself when the days seems to slip away too easily. I also have different rituals that I try to do every full and new moon (which will be the focus of another post).
Tonight's ritual will consist of:
A small fire in the backyard fire pit
Writing down a list of thoughts/ideas that I want to let go of
Placing the list in the fire and letting the list go as it burns
And that's it - how simple is that?!
Do you hold a moon cycle ritual on full moons? If so, what do you include in your ceremony?
